With Christmas quickly approaching, I have been thinking about this letter for a couple of weeks now. I contemplated taking the lazy way out; just sending a picture, but thought maybe you would like to know how we spent this past year. So, I am getting a head start this year! If you remember last year, you probably didn’t receive your letter from us until after New Years.
It seems that life has been busier this year than years past. The kids are all going different directions as are Phil and I.
Austin is now 1 month away from turning 9! He is in 3rd grade and loving every minute of it. He is especially proud of the fact that he gets to go to 4th grade for math everyday. His new favorite show to watch is Myth Busters. He comes charging in the door after school and B-lines it for the basement to watch. He emerges about an hour later for snack and to be a part of the family. This past year he was involved in baseball, football, and swimming lessons. Very rarely is he not either playing a sport, watching a sport, or asking questions about a sport. I am very good at any of that. He has also decided that his mom is no longer “cool”. I have to say I am sad about that; I didn’t this stage this soon!
Belle just turned 6 in September. She finally gets to go to school; she goes to kindergarten 3 days a week. She loves the social aspect the best…What girl doesn’t? She is also very into doing crafts and other creative things. She is always making something for someone. She saved her money this past year and was able to purchase an American Girl Doll off of eBay. Very rarely will you see her without her doll! She too played baseball over the summer; she didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Austin, but still had fun.
Carson is now 5. He will start kindergarten next fall. He is enjoying preschool and making all sorts of new friends. He is also quite the ladies man! I have no idea how many girl friends he has right now because the number is always changing. His swimming lessons teacher was his girlfriend over the summer. He also has the neighbor girl as a constant girlfriend (she is a little closer to his own age!) He is becoming more and more like Austin everyday. He is very math oriented and trying to gain new knowledge everyday! He has been struggling with headaches for the past few months. We will be meeting with a neurologist in the next couple of weeks. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers, so that we can figure out how to get rid of them.
Nessa, is now 2. She is the first “terrible two” we have had. I guess it was bound to happen! If you ask me it is the red hair! Anyway she is busier than ever. She is talking and counting. I have even managed to get her potty trained! Her favorite things to do are shape sorters and playing with her babies. She is also on the counter helping me when ever I am cooking. She is great at stirring and licking off the beaters! She is always thrilled when she gets to go somewhere, anywhere! Now that all of the kids are in school she gets a little lonely while they are gone. She is a big help with laundry and other household chores.
Phil is still working for Norwood Promotional Products in Red Wing. He is always busy keeping things running for them. We get the occasional predawn phone call. I think I scare them when they call! (My morning voice is a little scary and I am a little cranky when I get woken up abruptly so early) He is also participating in 3 fantasy football leagues. He spends most of his Sundays watching football with his computer on his lap! This past summer he built the kids a giant swing set with a slide and a bridge and an enormous sandbox. He was finally able to finish building Austin’s room in the basement. The next project he is starting is a TV room in the basement. I tell you, he has got ants in his pants. The only time he sits still is when he is watching football!
I started going to school this past fall. It has been quite a change from doing online classes. I am going for photography. It is a blast, but very time consuming! I have class Monday through Thursday nights from 6-10 plus a TON of homework. It has been so worth it though. I landed my first real photography job. I am now the photographer for the local paper. I cover most of the sports games and other activities that go on around town. With learning all of this amazing stuff at school my photography wish list grows longer and longer by the day. Now I at least have a job so I can pay for the stuff I need. My wonderful husband surprised me with a new lens a couple of months ago, it is great!

We hope you all have a very wonderful holiday season!
With Love,
Phil, Rachael, Austin, Belle, Carson, and Nessa
