Austin had his phy ed fun day yesterday. It is basically a track and field day. He wasn't able to do much having a broken leg, but he tried.

Eventful week

As we near summer it seems we get busier every day. I finished school on the 12th. I am happy to report I got A's in all my classes! It has been nice to not have to run in the evenings. We have taken up family walks. Now that Belle and Carson can ride their bikes we only have to push Nessa in the stroller...unless Austin wants to come along, then he rides with her.
Then last Thursday Nessa had her last day of school (ECFE). I took some pictures for the paper, a couple of them had my kids in them, Dick chose one of the ones with Belle and Carson in it, so they were in the paper again...I thought working for the paper would cut down on the amount of times we end up in there! Back to Nessa, she asks every night still, "Wake up, then school?" But when she wakes up then she just asks to go outside. We are out most mornings by 9!
Then on Wednesday Carson "graduated" they did a play, He was the star, "Mr. Spider". He totally stole the show. No signs of stage fright from our class clown! After the play they handed out diplomas and had a snack. Their last day of school was on Friday when they took a trip (on the bus) to the park. Carson is thrilled to be going to kindergarten in the fall, but wishes it would some sooner.
I will post pictures later, waiting right now for company to come...

Austin

So, things are moving awefully slow around here now. Austin got his cast on Tuesday. It seems to give him more confidence as he can move faster now than before, but faster is still a turtle's pace. Mom and Dad brought over grandma's recliner, her tray for writing or eating, and her door bell to ring if I am not in shouting distance. He has been pretty tough through this whole thing, but I can tell it is wearing on him. He went back to school yesterday. Mom picks him up and brings him back home. He was just beat when he got home. And this morning when he woke up he was awefully tired still.
He is already complaining about being bored, and we still have at least 4 weeks left! This morning too he was saying that it itches and something is poking him. If he is happy later I will take some pictures and post them!

Austin is in the paper!

Last week Austin had a track meet. It was a community ed thing. The varsity track team were the coaches. Anyway, Last Wednesday was the last class, so they had a track meet. I figured as long as I was there, I would take some pictures. If any of them turned out I would hand them in. There were several shots that were good, the one that got picked is shown below. See the determination on his face!

Austin Broke His Leg!

So, last night was my last class for portraits. I am walking out of the school and my phone started to make the "message" sound. I pulled it out and listened to the message, "Austin fell and twisted his ankle pretty bad, call me." I called him back when I got to my car. He said Austin was out riding the motor scooter and his foot got caught under it and he twisted his ankle. I asked him if it was broken. He said, You can't break your ankle. He said Austin could hardly stand to sit on the couch. So, he and my mom took him to the ER and my Dad stayed with the other 3 kids. I met them at the hospital and low and behold the x-ray showed a fracture! The doctor said since he is a kid it will heal just fine, no surgery needed. If he were an adult he would have needed surgery. So, that was good. They then put a splint on his leg and we came home.
It was a rough night last night. Phil and I took turns getting up with him when he needed meds or his leg adjusted. We were up more last night than we where when the kids were infants. He is trying to sleep right now. Later we are going to attempt to learn to use the crutches! Wish us luck!
He is going to meet with the orthopedist on Tuesday to get his cast put on, hopfully the pain will slowly get better over the weekend so he can go back to school on Monday.
I will update if anything interesting happens. Possibly pictures, if I can convince him to put some clothes on! He has been in underwear since we cut him out of his jeans last night!

Track Meet

Every Wednesday for the last 4 weeks Austin has been going up to the highschool to participate in track. The varsity track team showed them how to do things like; the long jump, shot putt, and the pole jump. Then they did some running and other races. This past Wednesday they had a track meet so that they could show all of the parents what they had been doing over the past several weeks. Austin liked the running races best as well as the long jump. He was able to run 1/2 a mile in just over 3 1/2 minutes! I dont think that I could even run 1/2 a mile. Here are some pictures that I took of Austin participating.
Other tid bits of info:
I have been smoke free for almost a month! Work has been slow lately, due to all of the rain, my school is done next week!
Belle learned how to ride a bike without training wheels yesterday. I will post some pictures later.
This morning I was driving Carson and the neighbor girl to school. They were talking in the back seat, I heard Carson tell her, "Belle is a professional now that she can ride bike with two wheels." I just chuckled, he asked, "What?" I said, "You are silly!" He said, "But she really is a professional."
The few nice days that we have had have been great! We have gone to the park, gone on walks, and just spent the whole day outside. Nessa asks everyday when she wakes up, "Outside now?" Then I tell her that it is wet or rainy or cold and she responds with,"After pupper (supper) time?" Every meal to her is either breakfast or pupper there is no lunch. Anyway it has been so nice to get them out of the house and able to burn off some energy. They have been falling asleep and sleeping so much better.
Phil took the van to work today with the hope of picking up our countertop from Menards. Yeah it was in a couple of weeks ago, but they ordered the wrong size, it was 2 inches short! Phil took it back and it is suppose to be in anyday now. Before we went and picked up the first countertop we tore out the old one. So, I have half of a new counter and half of the old yellow yuk! None of which is glued down or looks nice at all. I am anxious to get the kitchen finished. After all the whole project started back in February!
I should get something done, everyone but Nessa is at school!
