Oh goodnees! Where did summer go? Now that the kids are in school and it has cooled off for a few days it is a cruel reminder that winter and the REALLY cold temps are going to be here soon:(
On that happy note...
We kept busy all summer! Between baseball games, soccer, my pictures, and Phil working we were constantly on the run. We had time for 3 camping trips this year. The kids all love it and now that Nessa is bigger it is a lot easier and more relaxing to go. So, in June we went on our yearly trip to New Ulm...Flandreau State Park. We got rained on both nights. That trip gave us stories to come home with:) We ended up with hail damage to both vehicles, got to spend a couple of hours the first night in a bat infested shelter...The second night we hung out in a friends camper...Hindsight we should have gone and found a real shelter. Oh, well it was fun during the day and we had good temps this year.
Then in July we went to Whitewater State Park. The kids say that was the best camping trip ever!!!They had tons of things for us to do. We went on an owl call prowl one night, the kids got to make bracelets like the indians, they got to go fishing, geocaching, and also had an eagle show. It was slightly warmer, but we had much better weather! The day we got there Phil thought it would be a good idea to go on a hike. Well, he thought wrong! It was super hot and he led us up this giant bluff thing, we were all completely wiped when we got back to the site.
Then last weekend was our last trip for the year. We went to Hok-Si-La park in Lake City. We went with our small Bible Study group from church. There were 4 families that were able to make it. We had 18 people total. The mosquitoes were HORRIBLE, but as long as we kept up on reapplying bug spray the rest of the weekend was very enjoyable!
We also were able to go to Valley Fair again this year. The kids love it and we totally get more bang for the buck there than at the Cannon Fair. Although, I did end up spending most of the 4th down at the Cannon Fair, for the paper-but that I didn't have to pay for:) Austin and I also went with the youth group from church to Valley Fair in August-on mine and Phil's 10th anniversary.
So, our anniversary. Like I said I spent the day with the youth group at Valley Fair and Phil spent the day at work...Romantic huh? Well, we were able to get away for one night with out the kids. My parents took them and we went up to Plymouth and stayed at the Radison. It would have been fun...BUT I ended up sick with a terrible summer cold so we spent our night away in bed watching the Food Network. The cold then managed to slowly work its way through the family...Carson just got over it yesterday...That would be almost 3 weeks later!!!
Nessa was in a pageant in August. It was just a local pageant at the assisted living place in town. She had a ton of fun and was declared a Twin Rivers Princess! It was super cute...she was asked several questions, and had to preform a talent...She sang Jesus Loves Me. She did awesome-No stage fright in that girl!
So, now the kids are back at school and it is just me and Nessa. She has been begging to go shopping! I love that kid! We will probably make a trip in the next day or two. She will be starting preschool again next week, so I will have 3 mornings a week to myself! Not sure what I will do with time to myself:)
Yesterday was the first day of school for my oldest 3. Well only 2 of them made it! Like I said before Carson was sick. He stayed home and slept most of the day away. I am happy to report that by yesterday afternoon he was back to normal and today he woke up ready to go to school! Poor kid even ended up with homework yesterday!
I haven't taken many pictures of the kids lately...But here is what I have...
